Dr Pietas van Aswegen is a registered medical practitioner at the South African Health Professional Council (HPCSA). He is registered at the South African Civil Aviation Authority as a Designated Senior Aviation Medical Examiner and at the South African Department of Labour as a Level 2 Diving Medical Examiner He is qualified as an Occupational Medical Practitioner and completed the Level 2 Diving and Submarine Medicine Course. Dr Pietas has a passion for aviation medicine and have been active in the field since 2003. He worked at the Institute for Aviation Medicine where he was also involved in medical evacuation. He completed the Flight Medical Aidman certificate at the United States Army in 2002 and wrote the training manual for the Flight Medical Assistant course presented in the SANDF. He also holds qualifications in Critical Care, Health Service Administration and Education and Project Management.
